What is a Golf Screening?
The Pure Physio Sports Golf Screening evaluates your body in three key areas: mobility, strength, and power. This assessment determines your capability to play golf at a high level. You can compare your results against professional golfers, players of a similar standard, or those who match your age, height, and weight. Based on your results, you will receive a personalised, periodised plan of gym work and fitness training designed to enhance one or more areas over time, ultimately improving your performance. The Performance Screening can be repeated after a set period to track progress and adjust the plan as needed.
What does the mobility assessment include?
The mobility assessment uses dynamometry to evaluate the range of motion in each joint crucial for a proper golf swing. We begin with the head and neck, proceed to shoulder rotation, then assess the spine, and finally the hips. Elbows, knees, wrists, or ankles are only assessed if you have specific injuries or pain in those areas. Following the assessment, you will receive a tailored mobility programme to help you achieve quick improvements in your game. Alternatively, you may choose to book physiotherapy sessions for hands-on strength and mobility techniques or Physio-led Strength and Conditioning stretching sessions.
What does the strength assessment include?
The strength assessment consists of five compound movements, each performed for a five-rep max. These tests identify the weaker areas of your body that may affect your golf swing. A strong body is essential for producing controlled power. We can compare your strength analysis scores against those of players with similar abilities, relate them to your club head speed, and create a programme to address your weaknesses. If you’re not confident in working on your strength alone, you can book Physio-led Strength and Conditioning sessions in one of our bespoke clinics.
What does the power assessment include?
Power is assessed using advanced technology that measures your reactive strength index and power output. This is done using an algorithm that considers your gender, height, and weight. The tests include single-leg lateral hops, counter-movement jumps, drop jumps, and rotational jumps to gauge potential power output. We rank your performance against other golfers. Improvements in these tests directly impact how far you can potentially hit a golf ball. The results will be compiled into a report, along with recommendations on how to improve your power scores.
When should I get a Golf Screening?
You can complete the screening at any time of the year to address issues and improve weaknesses. Don’t wait for the off-season to start playing better and feeling better! Our screening has been utilised by DP World Tour players, Challenge Tour players, champion amateur golfers, and even beginners who want to start their golf career on the right foot.
