Running Gait Analysis
Our running gait analysis has been developed to give you the most accurate and valuable information to support your running goals. The basis for the analysis is to improve performance, however, you may find data that is relevant to injury management, recovery and injury risk mitigation. Take a look below at some of the metrics you will receive in your screening. We use Optojump and Activeforce technology to gather the data.
- Individual limb acceleration/deceleration rates
- Heel strike to midfoot to toe off cycle times
- Foot height and heel strike angle
- Peak force for hip and knee in all planes of motion
We break down the data to create a programme to better improve your outcomes and manage injury risk.
Initial meeting in the clinic
First you will arrive at our custom clinic with a gym space and treadmill. You will be greeted by your Physiotherapist and taken into the assessment room, so come dressed for the assessment in sports clothes.
The Sports Screening
We will gather information about your running levels, previous injury history and goals. After a short warm up we will take your height and weight to upload you as an athlete on the Optojump system. We will then test you at varied speeds on a treadmill and begin gathering data.
After the running information is gathered, we will individually test your hips and knees for peak force testing to accurately test any weaknesses that may influence your performance or risk of injury.
Education and Performance Programme
Our Sports Physiotherapist will then describe to you the key findings of the assessment and develop a bespoke performance programme to work on the areas you need to enhance performance. This will be sent to you via e-mail and we will allow you access to an app that tells you how often to complete the programme with videos of each exercise and the number of reps and sets to complete.
Payment and re-booking
Our Sports Physiotherapist will then take payment and agree when to re-assess you to find out how the performance plan has helped you and whether you have reached your goals or what you need to do next. Your report and programme will arrive within 24 hours of your appointment.
We look forward to seeing you increasing your run times!
