What Is It?

Applied pressure with the possibility of various base oils and creams that help to reduce stress caused by sport and everyday life. Managing this stress can help improve pain levels, sleep and sports performance. Evidence supports that sleep is an important part of performance, recovery and injury rehabilitation.  Studies also show that massage may affect recovery from challenging work environments and improve recovery from training sessions and competitions.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is the application of a variety of soft tissue techniques to maximise performance to assist with injury prevention, treatment of injuries and supporting recovery.  The treatment aims to improve the resting tension of muscles and joints, improve blood circulation, speed up the healing of damaged or stressed muscles, tissues and joints, and prevent future muscle and tendon injuries.

A sports massage can be carried out prior to a sports event, when it will stimulate circulation, calm nervous tension and prepare the individual for optimal performance whilst at the same time it may reduce the risk of injury. It can also be carried out after a sports event when it will relieve soreness.

Sports massage is not limited to athletes; it is ideal for anyone who is in need of any soft tissue work irrespective of age, gender or level of fitness.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a complementary therapy that involves the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body to promote relaxation. It can improve the function of the circulatory system, lymphatic system, muscular and nervous system and in doing so improve the rate at which the body can recover from injury and illness.

This deeper type of massage works for muscle groups by reducing tension and soreness whilst helping to restore optimal function. Treatment is particularly effective at increasing circulation and reducing emotional and physical stress.
